Rich in atmosphere and satisfying vibes, Supermode’s signature track is one we will certainly be returning to for many years to come.Luke, Mattia and Simone, congratulations on your first Beatport number one with your remix for Supermode’s “Tell Me Why.” How are you? Tenderly nestled among the layers, the vocal layer helped elevate the track from iconic, to a more timeless status. Undeniable is the effect of the infectious chords and thumping bass. And while it has been 10 years since the triumphant tune landed, it still packs a mighty punch, whenever it is played. However, it was the radio version that really brought the attention, charting in the Top 15 of the UK, Danish and German charts, it also gained a Top 5 placing in the Dutch Top 40. The track’s official version formally lasted over 7 minutes, acting as an example that helped define ‘true’ Progressive House from the era.
A few name’s include, Avicii, Duke Dumont, David Guetta and The Chemical Brothers. Taking the lyrics from the track “Why?”, the vocals were performed by Hal Ritson, a little known name that has worked alongside some the industry’s biggest. Sampling the song “Smalltown Boy”, the unforgettable instrumental basis was formed. Already renowned for their disk-jockeying abilities, their move to the creation of new material of mainstream appeal was one closely watched by the scene. Incorporating two tracks from Bronski Beat’s ‘The Age of Consent’ album, it demonstrated Axwell and Angello’s evolving studio production prowess. Not only because it charted highly for a single from the genre at the time, but also because it was major stepping stone towards the formation of the iconic Swedish House Mafia. While many still see it as one of the greatest electronic dance music tracks in recent times, it is harder to argue its impact on the scene. Acting as a collaborative side-project, the duo created something rather special with their hit track “Tell Me Why”. Supermode was originally called ‘Supermongoan’ by his founders Axwell and Steve Angello.
